Film Course: Screenwriting

From Your Imagination onto Paper

Lights Film School will teach you how to properly conceptualize and build a film script (also known as a screenplay). We teach you how to use your imagination to come up with innovative and unique ideas and then we teach you how to take those ideas from your mind and put them onto paper.

We are fortunate enough to have minds that work very much like a film does. We can think of transitions, camera angles, characters, emotions, music and so on. The challenge is taking this wealth of information and putting it into a word processing document without it loosing any of the vividness of your imagination. This is important because the script is for everybody to understand. Your need to communicate your ideas clearly to your actors, your director your director of photography and so on. You can't make the assumption that other people will be able to visualize the script as well as you. For this reason we make script building a priority during our first month of class.
