About the Project
A recent graduate of our
film school decided to go and work for a company as a Director of Photography
for a small film production company. They were responsible for conceptualizing
music and dance video ideas and then recording them onto film. The student
explains their experience below.
Student Perspective After completing my
4 months at Lights Film School I started looking for work in the creative field.
I really wanted to work with footage in some way. I love the process of visual
story telling so I really wanted to work on my art from a filming or editing
perspective. I got a job at a small production company and they hired me as a
Director Of Photography (D.O.P.). While I didn't expect the position, I was more
than thrilled to accept the offer.
Now I'm on contract
with them to help them create various video projects they receive from clients.
We have recently worked on music videos and dance videos and in the future are
expending our reach into "how to" type of videos.
I usually start my
morning meeting with the president of the company, and she tells me her vision
for the shoot that week. Then we throw ideas back and forth until we are clear
on a vision. At this point it's my responsibility to put our collective ideas
onto film.
Because Lights Film
School had such a strong creative and imaginative slant to the course learning I
was able to start thinking much more vividly about interesting concepts, colors
and themes. The result has been that I've been able to transport that vision
from my head and put it onto film.
For those thinking
about enrolling in Lights Film School I would highly recommend doing so. The
course will have a huge positive impact on your life.
